Under the Skin

This is a strange tale of an alien seductress preying upon passersby in Scotland. Based on Michel Faber’s 2000 novel, the film explores various themes: the mechanics of sexual predation, estrangement and the need for contact, deformity and self-image, the death drive, to present a multifacetted view of humanity at large. It cuts scenes of verité realism into music-video abstraction, creating a singular cinematic vision.

“Under the Skin gets under the skin. It is an experience that has as much to do with hypnosis as with cinema.” Ryan Gilbey, New Statesman
